Staff VS Students

On Tuesday, March 31st, selected students and staff participated in the 1st annual “staff vs. students” basketball game. The event was part of Excell Academy’s Hoops for Heart fundraiser. The top 11 student fundraisers were selected to participate in this game. Combined with our Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser, Excell Academy raised nearly $2,500 for the American Heart Association.

The event was a great success. Before the game, the line-ups were announced, which included a “grand entrance” by the staff, dressed in their knee-high socks and headbands, and supported by the staff cheerleaders. The game itself was quite entertaining with many impressive shots made by students and staff. To help keep the game closer in score, every basket made was 2 points for the students and 1 point for the staff. The game did remain close until the fourth quarter, when the staff took over with their “slight” height advantage. After the game, students received a certificate and were recognized for their fundraising efforts.
