2009 CHARTER SCHOOL
ALL-STAR BASKETBALL GAME
Excell Academy was the host of the 2nd annual Charter School All-Star Game on Saturday, March 21st. The event featured some of the best basketball talent from charter schools around the metro area. Five charter schools, including Excell, participated in this exciting event. There were nearly 100 people who came out to our new gym to watch and support the all-stars. The day started out with a shooting contest and a slam dunk contest. There was one student from each school who competed in these events. The event concluded with the all-star game that showcased 2 or 3 top players from each school. The game was close and very exciting to watch. The all-stars put on a good show and represented their schools well. Participating schools included Excell Academy, W.I.S.E. charter, New Visions, Sojourner Truth Academy, Achieve Language Academy. Excell Academy participants included Azra Jones, Caleb Payne, and Daniel Burns.
A special thank you goes out to Excell’s physical education teacher, Aaron Hjermstad, who organized and ran the event; as well as the many Excell staff, who volunteered there time to make this event such a great success.
