Director's Welcome Message (2010-2011)

Greetings Families of Excell Academy:
I sincerely welcome you, our new and returning students, staff members and community members of Excell Academy for Higher Learning. We are excited about the 2010-2011school year. This year marks Excell Academy’s 10th year of operation! Administration as well as other staff have been working diligently all summer preparing to make this the most successful year ever in the history of Excell Academy.
Excell’s school wide theme this year is “Excelling in Accountability and Teamwork.” This year, the standards of Excell-ence and Accountability are being raised for Excell’s leadership, administration, teachers, support staff, students, parents and the community as we partner together to raise student test scores and reach above and beyond academically and socially.
- School leadership will be accountable for demonstrating more effective communication with families and staff as well as maintaining a school culture of high standards and Excell-ence.
- Teachers will be accountable for utilizing and demonstrating more effective classroom management and instructional practices to foster a learning environment of high expectations, safety and enjoyment.
- Support staff will be accountable by being proactive in assisting teachers and students in any professional way that will contribute to the academic and social success of each student.
- Students will be accountable to come to school prepared to learn, ready to work hard and do their best, as well as respect the right of others to learn.
- Parents / Families will be accountable to support the development of the academic and social success of their child/ren by sending them to school prepared to learn (rested, on time, dressed appropriately), and working with the school to celebrate their child’s successes and to address their challenges.
As we implement our new school wide Accountability Plan this year to raise test scores, increase effective communication, and develop a sense of community within Excell, we must work as team.
We request you to place ExcellAcademy.org as your computer’s homepage. Also, please be certain to notify Excell of your email address for school communications. Families will also have access to Excell’s newly adopted information and communication system called Power School.More information will be given at the Family Orientations in August and the Open House in September. We ask all families to plan to attend. See the 2010-2011 School Calendar for dates and times.
